Welcome to Driftwood Enola Camp

A Brief History of Our Camp in Driftwood, Pennsylvania

Our beloved camp, a testament to enduring camaraderie and a love for the outdoors, was established in 1953 in the serene landscape of Driftwood, Pennsylvania. Tucked away at the base of the mountain on Grove Hill Road, its origins trace back to a dedicated group of hunting enthusiasts and friends: Dick Shuler, Bob Shuler, Paul Lyons, Dick Knaby, Don Knaby, and Bill Knaby. Before finding this permanent haven, these intrepid individuals honed their outdoor skills camping at Tunnel Hill, where an old army tent, warmed by an army stove, served as their temporary shelter.

The search for a more permanent base led the group to discover this idyllic parcel of ground, which they subsequently purchased from the Whittles. This newly acquired property held the remnants of an old barn foundation, a feature the founders ingeniously repurposed. Leveraging this sturdy base, they embarked on the ambitious project of constructing a new, two-story cinder block cabin, completing it in that foundational year of 1953. This structure quickly became the heart of their outdoor adventures.

Since its inception, the ownership of our camp has gracefully transitioned through the generations, passed down to various family members who continue to uphold its legacy. The original cabin, a direct product of the founders' vision and effort, remains fully utilized today. It serves as a cherished retreat, a place where family and friends gather for hunting and fishing excursions, or simply to enjoy a peaceful getaway amidst the natural beauty of Pennsylvania, keeping the spirit of 1953 alive.
